Biography
Dr Andrea Hinwood is the former Chief Scientist and Director of the Office of Science of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). She served on the UN Secretary General’s Science Advisory Board, an observer on the Climate and Clean Air Coalition Science Advisory Panel and the International Methane Observatory (IMEO) Science Oversight Committee. She was the inaugural Chief Scientist of EPA Victoria and has an academic background in environmental exposures to pollutants and impacts on human health including air pollution. Dr. Hinwood earned her PhD in environmental epidemiology from Monash University in Melbourne and was previously Head of School and Associate Professor at the School of Natural Sciences Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. She has held appointments as a member and Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia and sessional member of the State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia. Dr. Hinwood's career has included the provision of strategic advice to the governments on a wide variety of environmental matters.
