WHOSE PARTICLE IS IT? PARTICLE FORENSICS IN THE MOUNT MAUNGANUI AIRSHED
Biography
Dr Cherie Tollemache is an analytical chemist at Mote Ltd and is the lead innovator of its multimodal particle speciation methodology. Her work focuses on developing advanced analytical approaches for single-particle characterisation and source attribution in complex air quality environments.
Cherie has led the design and implementation of multimodal frameworks that integrate chemical and morphological analysis to resolve particle identity, transformation, and origin at the individual particle level. This work underpins new capabilities for interpreting particulate matter in mixed-source environments and supporting defensible air quality assessments.
She collaborates with academic and government partners, including the University of Auckland, CSIRO, and QUT, to translate analytical innovation into practical tools for environmental monitoring, regulatory decision-making, and industry application.
