Dr Ian Longley is a Director and Co-Founder of The Air Quality Collective. A former engineer and schoolteacher he has a PhD in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Manchester. He joined New Zealand’s National Institute for Water and Atmosphere (NIWA) in 2007, becoming Air Quality Programme Leader in 2012 and Principal Air Quality Scientist in 2017. He is an expert in air quality at the “hyper-local” scale with a particular interest in low-cost sensors, public participation and innovation.
