She has previously served as an Environmental Specialist at a U.S. State Department of Environmental Protection and at the Environment Liaison Centre International and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. At UNEP, she held positions ranging from Senior Advisor in the organization’s Strategic Implementation Team to Acting Director of the Policy and Programme Division and Deputy Director of the Global Environment Facility Coordination Division. Under Sheila’s leadership at IUCN, she grew the programme from the two largest global environmental funding mechanisms five-fold, increasingly bringing in actors from the banking, investment and insurance sectors alongside those from sectors such as energy and agriculture. She is also serving as the external advisor in the UNDP working group, which is reviewing its business model in one of its global fund operations. Sheila has authored The Policy Process in International Environmental Governance and Promoting Coherence: Towards an Effective Global Environment Facility. She holds a doctorate in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia, with her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the U.S.

Dr Andrea Hinwood is the former Chief Scientist and Director of the Office of Science of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). She served on the UN Secretary General’s Science Advisory Board, an observer on the Climate and Clean Air Coalition Science Advisory Panel and the International Methane Observatory (IMEO) Science Oversight Committee. She was the inaugural Chief Scientist of EPA Victoria and has an academic background in environmental exposures to pollutants and impacts on human health including air pollution. Dr. Hinwood earned her PhD in environmental epidemiology from Monash University in Melbourne and was previously Head of School and Associate Professor at the School of Natural Sciences Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. She has held appointments as a member and Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia and sessional member of the State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia. Dr. Hinwood's career has included the provision of strategic advice to the governments on a wide variety of environmental matters.

Dr Sumit Sharma is presently working as a Programme officer and Deputy Head (a.i.) at United Nations Environment Programme, India office, handling activities related to air pollution and marine plastics litter.
