Biography

Peter has led and supported a number of ambient air quality initiatives involving lower cost, internet connected air quality monitoring devices. These include the multi-award winning OPENAIR program in NSW, the Victorian Community Led Air Quality Monitoring project and the ARC LIEF funded “Australian Smart Environmental Observatory to Shape Future Cities”. Peter provides consulting to government, academia and the commercial sector on initiatives involving technology research, development and innovation. He is currently also the Natural Hazards and Smart Places Theme Leader for the NSW Smart Sensing Network and previously led CSIRO Data61's Smart Cities program. Peter is a member of numerous committees including the Australian Smart Communities Association reference group, CASANZ measurement SIG, Australian Network for Structural Health Monitoring, Standards Australia ISO/IEC/JTC 4 Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities technical committee, Australian Computer Society Data Sharing technical committee and UN Sustainable Cities Digital Public Infrastructure thematic working group. Peter is a prolific inventor with 29 patents granted in voice and video communications, data networking and biometrics, civil engineering and data analytics. Peter holds an MBA (Exec) from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
